The People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, remained as the most influential newspaper in China in 2019. Other state-run newspapers - the Global Times and Guang Ming Daily - occupied the second and third spot in the annual ranking.
Leading newspapers in China in 2019, based on media power score
The latest report in 2021 has not disclosed the media power scores but only the ranking of the leading newspapers, thus this statistic can not be updated.
The report examines a total of 295 main newspapers, covering their printed versions, websites, Weibo accounts, WeChat accounts, Douyin accounts, and client-network news aggregators, as well as the newspapers' own dedicated news apps.
The index ranges from zero to 100 with 100 as the highest value.
