According to a survey among young Chinese directors, around 72 percent of the respondents said that compared to other countries, the Chinese film industry experienced disadvantages resulting from an imperfect industrial system. More than 42 percent of the directors thought the lack of industrial standards was the most significant difficulty faced by Chinese directors during their career.
Opinion on disadvantages of Chinese film and television industry compared to foreign countries among young directors in China in 2019
The survey was conducted among young directors who:
1) were born between 1979 to 1999
2) directed at least a feature film or a TV series or two award-winning short films
3) have at least one work that has been played on a public platform or scheduled to be played.
4) currently work as directors.
