According to a survey among young Chinese directors, half of the respondents said that a lack of funding caused the hardest time in their careers. About 50 percent of the directors said they had encountered closure of their projects due to financial issues before.
Reasons that caused difficulties in the career of young directors in China in 2019
The survey was conducted among young directors who:
1) were born between 1979 to 1999
2) directed at least a feature film or a TV series or two award-winning short films
3) have at least one work that has been played on a public platform or scheduled to be played.
4) currently work as directors.
