In 2020, Sogou reported an annual revenue of 925 million U.S. dollars, a majority of which came from its search and search-related advertising business. The Chinese third-largest search engine completed its merger with Tencent and went private in the fall of 2021. Its input software Sogou Input Method is widely used among Chinese internet users.
