In 2022 and 2023, merger and acquisition deals in the global chemical industry reported a total value of approximately 70 billion U.S. dollars and aproximately 101 billion U.S. dollars respectively. In both years, transactions within the base and petrochemicals chemicals subsector were the most valuable, accounting for a 54 percent share of total chemical industry M&A value worldwide in 2022, and 46 percent in 2023.
