At the end of 2020, the blue chips index on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in Poland will be higher than at the end of 2019, with an average change of 8.6 percent. This would mean that the index will increase to 2,334 points during the year. The target threshold implies that the WIG20 will remain in long-term consolidation, with most fluctuations closing in the range of 2400-2100 pts. In the next six months of 2020, mWIG40 will increase by 6.2 percent, and in 12 months by 9.9 percent and sWIG80 by 10.6 percent.

WIG20 index has been calculated since April 16, 1994 based on the value of portfolio with shares in 20 major and most liquid companies in the WSE Main List. The initial value of WIG20 index was 1000 points. It is an price index and thus when it is calculated it accounts only for prices of underlying shares whereas dividend income is excluded. The WIG20 index may not include more than 5 companies from a single exchange sector.
