Poland: Warsaw Stock Exchange - WIG80 index outlook 2019-2020

According to average analysts' forecasts, the sWIG80 on the Warsaw Stock Exchange will be nearly 400 points higher at the end of the first half of the year, and 1150 points higher at the end of the second half. This means that within six months, it will gain 4.2 percent, and within 12 - 10.6 percent. Taking into account the fact that since the downfall at the end of October, the index has already gained seven percent, the potential 14-month rate of return may reach almost 18 percent. In the next 12 months of 2020, it is also forecasted that mWIG40 will increase by 9.9 percent, and the WIG20 index will be higher than at the end of 2019, with an average change of 8.6 percent.

sWIG80 index is successor of WIRR index that has been calculated since December 31, 1994 and comprises 80 smaller companies listed at WSE Main List. The initial value of index was 1000 points. sWIG80 is a price index and thus when it is calculated it accounts only for prices of underlying shares whereas dividend income is excluded. The sWIG80 index excludes WIG20 and mWIG40 index participants and foreign companies listed at WSE and other markets with the market capitalization at the ranking date above 100 million EUR. The weighting of a single company is limited to 10% in the index portfolio.
