According to a Rakuten Insight survey in 2019 on consumer behavior in Japan, about 41 percent of female and around 42 percent of male respondents mentioned their dislike for being under the influence of alcohol as a general reason to choose alcohol-free beer over normal beer. In comparison to their male counterparts, a higher share of female respondents mentioned cutting down on alcohol consumption as a reason.
