According to a 2019 survey, around 55 percent of high school students in the United States use digital learning tools outside of school to learn daily, while a further 32 percent use them a few days a week. Only two percent of high school students never use digital learning tools.

Total survey respondents: 3,210 teachers, 1,163 principals, 1,219 district administrators and 2,696 students. Only students in grades 3-12 were surveyed.
The survey uses a broad definition of digital learning tools, including websites, apps, online tutorials, online games and videos or programs used to teach and support student learning and schoolwork.
