According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in February 2024, more than 72 percent of South Koreans aged 16 to 24 years old and those 55 years or older stated that they had tried plant-based products before. At the same time respondents from the age group between 16 and 24 years old were the least aware of plant-based foods, with roughly 8.66 percent answering not knowing what it is.
