According to a survey conducted by Ipsos in May 2019 on attributes important to be considered beautiful, 64 percent of Indian respondents considered black hair to be ideal for men. About two percent of the respondents thought blond or red hair was ideal.

The question asked in the survey was as follows: "When thinking of beauty, which hair color do you consider ideal for men?"
According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, and/or with higher incomes than their fellow citizens, The results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more "connected" population.
