Global: number of Amazon patent filings by legal status 1999-2019

Amazon's patent filings grew for most of the 2000s. With the start of the following decade the number of filed patent families increased noticeably. Growth was especially visible in 2010 and 2012, when the company crossed 500 and 1,000 filings for the first time, respectively. The number of filings reached its peak in 2014 and has been declining since then. The timeline is based on data provided by PatentSight.
