A 2022 survey revealed that around a third of eSports users in China were single. A majority of Chinese eSports users were males under 30 years old. They were more linkely to spend over ten hours each week on playing eSports games or watching eSports livestreams.

eSports users refer to eSports gamers, eSports tournament audience, and eSports livestream viewers. To be counted as an eSports user, respondents should fulfill at least one of the following requirements:
1. In the past year, they had either watched or participated in at least one eSports tournament, including professional and unprofessional matches.
2. They play eSports games or watch eSports livestreams regularly each month.
