China has forged its path onto the world stage as an economic power. This also holds true for the digital arena. Homegrown Chinese tech firms like Tencent are becoming more well-known in the West and are serious contenders to brands like Facebook when it comes to monthly active users.
One advantage of Asian tech brands is their ability to tap into a vast domestic potential. China still has huge digital growth potential, while India's online population - a huge crowd of 686 million people - only represents half of the country's population. According to Datareportal, China now actually has more people who have access to the internet than have not. In 2020, almost 60 percent of Chinese people were online, compared with just around half in 2016.
