eBay Reports Solid Fourth Quarter Earnings
eBay reported fourth quarter earnings on Wednesday, January 16, and the results came in just above Wall Street’s expectations.
The company announced net income of $751 million on revenue of $4 billion. The fact that profits declined steeply year-over-year can be fully attributed to the sale of eBay's remaining stake in Skype, which positively influenced last year's result.
eBay reported healthy revenue growth, as the company's Payments unit continued to outgrow the Marketplaces business. PayPal now accounts for 39 percent of eBay's total revenue and could soon become the company's largest revenue source.
