For Emma Stone, last night proved second time lucky at the Academy Awards. She took home the best actress Oscar for her performance in La La Land, having been nominated once previously for her supporting role in 2015's Birdman. Many talented and popular actors are still waiting for an Academy Award despite having long and successful careers with countless nominations.
Peter O'Toole is probably the unluckiest actor in Oscar history. Throughout his career, he collected eight nominations but he never won and passed away in December 2013. Richard Burton's story is similar with seven nominations and no win. Glenn Close and Deborah Kerr have each been nominated six times but they have also missed out. Other well known actors in the club include Bradley Cooper (4 nominations) as well as Sigourney Weaver and Tom Cruise with three each.
