Elizabeth ll Becomes World's Longest Reigning Monarch
The Queen
After the death today of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Queen Elizabeth ll has become the longest reigning living monarch in the world. At the age of 88, the former head of state of Thailand reigned for a total of 70 years and 126 days, making him the seventeenth longest reigning monarch of all time. The Queen has quite a way to go if she is to top the all time list though - with 82 years and 254 days, Sobhuza II reigned over Swaziland from 1899 until 1982.
