With Russia having announced the suspension of its crucial participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative today, this infographic highlights the global importance of cereal exports from Ukraine.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has led to a significant increase in food prices on global markets, with grain prices rising particularly sharply. Both the Solidarity Corridors (routes created by the EU to help Ukraine export its agricultural and other products) and the Black Sea Grain Initiative have contributed significantly to lowering prices.
A total of 90 countries imported grain from the war-torn country in 2022, with neighboring Romania (little affected by the Initiative) importing the highest value over the 12-month period.
