TED's flagship conference kicks off in Vancouver today under this year’s slogan Possibilities. Running April 17-21, TED2023 invites thought leaders to give talks on their areas of research and expertise, covering everything from science through to the arts.
TED started in 1984 as a conference focused on Technology, Entertainment and Design. It has since expanded to cover other fields, while at the same time branching out to also produce podcasts, various video formats and independently run TEDx events around the world.
The following chart takes a closer look at the data behind TED.com viewership, drawing figures from Similarweb, a web analytics company specializing in web traffic and performance. It shows that women make up a larger share of the online audience at 54.7 percent versus 45.3 percent of men.
Younger audiences are also more drawn to the video platform, with 25 to 34-year-olds making up nearly a third of viewers between January and March 2023.
According to Similarweb, the top 5 countries with the most traffic towards the U.S. site are the United States (31.17 percent of traffic), India (4.13 percent), Canada (4.10 percent), the United Kingdom (3.80 percent) and Japan (3.48 percent).
