Lizzo’s tiny purse was arguably the biggest winner of the American Music Awards on November 24. The “Truth Hurts” singer showed up to the red carpet with a hilariously tiny bag, created by Valentino. On Instagram, she joked the bag was “big enough for my f***** to give.”
While it was Valentino who designed the 31-year-old’s bag, they weren’t the first to start the tiny purse craze. The Le Petit Chiquito micro bag quickly went viral when it was launched by Jacquemus at Paris Fashion Week in February 2019. The two-inch rubberized leather bag, which retails for $258, quickly sold out. It sparked dozens of articles about how it's simultaneously ridiculous but irresistible. It’s barely big enough to hold a lip balm.
Two years earlier, Jacquemus debuted Le Chiquito. Still tiny, it’s just under two and a half inches and retails for $516. Le Chiquito is a favorite among celebrities: Beyoncé, Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa and Rihanna have all been pictured with the micro purse.
