Who needs to disconnect now? According to a new study by Common Sense, parents are more likely to say they spend too much time on their devices, a change from 2016 when teens were the ones to confess to spending too much time on their screens.
About half of the parents surveyed for this report think that they spend too much time on their devices. In 2016, only about three in ten parents reported that same answer. On the flip side, back in 2016 about six in ten teens said that they spend too much time on their devices. Only about 39 percent of teens in 2019 felt that they spent too much time plugged into their devices.
Both parents and teens probably could use less screen time overall. The study also found that a majority of parents and teens used their phone right before going to bed and right when waking up, habits that studies have found to be harmful.
