GP surgeries closing at record rate in the UK
Health
Analysis of FOI data by Pulse, a publication for GPs in the UK, has revealed a worrying trend of GP surgery closures in the United Kingdom. Last year, there were at least 138 closures, with the number potentially higher as Pulse only received data from 186 of the 217 clinical commissioning groups in the country. Adding to the similar levels seen in 2016 and 2017, there is still no let up for patients, over half a million of which are thought to have been displaced in 2018 alone. Over the period covered by the analysis, 583 practices have closed.
