Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney, testified before Congress last week about some of the false statements he had made on the president’s behalf. Cohen will begin a three year prison sentence in April for lying about payments he made on behalf of President Trump to silence a former adult film star and a former Playboy model the president had affairs with. In addition, Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress, tax fraud, and making a false statement to a bank.
Americans are mixed on if President Trump committed a crime himself. Around 64 percent of respondents believe that President Trump committed a crime before his presidency. The court of public opinion is not out on whether the president committed any crimes during his presidency, with an almost even split between those who think President Trump committed a crime during his time in office, and those that don’t think he did.
Quinnipiac conducted this poll between March 1st and March 4th, 2019 where 1,120 voters were surveyed nationwide.
