Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made a name for herself in Washington since her election in November 2018. Admired by many and loathed by an equal amount of people, the at-times divisive New York native has made headlines spearheading the Green New Deal proposal, was mocked for dancing (but hit back in a video) and will soon be featured in a comic book.
According to a recent CNN poll, 69 percent of Americans now know who Ocasio-Cortez is. For comparison, 88 percent know who Mike Pence, the vice-president, is. Stacy Abrams, who ran for the Georgia governorship and is also tipped to be going places in the near future, is still only known to 55 percent of Americans.
When it comes to favorable and unfavorable opinions about her, Ocasio-Cortez accomplished quite an average result for a politician in the poll. Slightly more people thought unfavorably of her than had a favorable opinion, much like other members of Congress included in the poll such as Nancy Pelosi or Mitch McConnell.
