Theresa May, in a desperate final move to force her deeply unpopular Brexit deal through parliament, has promised her party that she will resign as leader for the next stage of the process, meaning an official leadership contest will soon be underway. Who then, are the leading Conservatives in the eyes of the public?
According to a longitudinal YouGov survey, Boris Johnson would be at the top of the list. 31 percent said that they view the MP favourably. May also has a 27 percent rating. Clearly though, there is far from a universally popular candidate in the eyes of the public, should it come down to a general election.
