Today sees the release of a new study conducted by ICM for British Future into attitudes in the UK to immigration. Among the wide range of insights garnered from the 3,667 respondents is an intriguing look at the difference in views held by those living in more populated areas such as large cities and those living in rural areas.
Overall, when asked if immigration has had a positive or negative impact on the UK, the average respondent gave a score of 5.72 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most positive). Those living in large cities however, had an average response of 6.19. As our infographic shows, this mean score decreases steadily with the population density of the respondents' place of residence. Those living in rural areas gave an average score of 5.20.
