A survey by automotive statistics company Cap hpi has found that the Dacia Duster, Sandero and Logan MCV are the three most affordable cars to own in the UK. Dacia's popularity has continued to grow in the UK and beyond with Renault's Romanian subsidiary recently passing the milestone of 5 million vehicles sold in all markets since 2004.
The survey took into account the cost of buying the vehicle and the day-to-day running of it, as well as depreciation over three years and 30,000 miles. With three year ownership costs averaging £6,189 and monthly running costs £171.92, the Duster and Sandero are tied for first spot in affordability. The Logan MCV estate comes third with three years of ownership costing an average of £7,209.
The three Dacias are followed by several Japanese and Korean brands with the Suzuki Celerio and Mazda 2 in fourth and fifth respectively. The Kia Picanto comes sixth while the Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 108 complete the top-eight list.
