The United Kingdom is ranked 8th in the World Economic Forum's "The Global Competitiveness Report 2017–2018" out of 137 countries considered. It has fallen one spot since last year's report, which has to do with the looming Brexit.
"This drop does not yet reflect the outcome of the Brexit negotiations, which is likely to further undermine the country’s competitiveness," the authors of the ranking conclude. The chart below shows that while, like in the U.S., taxes are of concern, its policy instability that British business executives are concerned about.
