In 2022, the largest number of asylum applicants in Italy were from Bangladesh. More specifically, citizens from Bangladesh submitted more than 14,000 requests during that year. Moreover, 11,800 applicants were from Pakistan, the second most common nationality among asylum seekers over the last months. The total number of applications added up to 84,289.
