Average length of stay in hospital in Canada 2022/23, by top diagnosis

In Canada, while giving birth was the most common reason for staying in hospital, the average length of stay (LOS) was the shortest, at just 2.1 days, compared to the other top ten diagnoses in 2022/23. Inpatients with neurocognitive disorders stayed the longest with an average LOS of 17.2 days.
