Share of renewables in electricity generation in Africa 2019 by country
Electricity generation in Ethiopia was entirely generated by renewable energy sources, according to the most recent data available. The country had the highest share of renewables in electricity generation in Africa. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, and Malawi followed, having almost 100 percent of their electricity generation harvested from renewable sources. On the other hand, renewables accounted for only 0.5 percent of the electricity generated in Eritrea, while in Botswana electricity was harvested completely from non-renewable sources.
