Share of sales of discounters on the European market 2014-2017
The sales share of discounters reached a total of 23 percent in 2017. The European market (19 countries) saw a stagnation of the market share of soft discounters in the years leading up to 2017, while hard discounters such as Aldi could expand their share of sales on the market. These sales were generated in over 42 thousand stores.
