Triennial credit card penetration in Spain 2011-2024, by demographic
According to a three-year survey, over five out of 10 respondents from Spain owned a credit card in 2021, with 46 percent of them actually having used one. The difference between ownership and usage was roughly 10 percentage points in 2021, which was about the same difference in percentage points as in 2017. The report adds that men were more likely than women to own such a payment card. Gen Z - or the age group 15 to 24 years in this survey - was slightly less likely to own a credit card than their older counterparts.
