The Adecco Group is a multinational provider of temporary staffing and recruitment services headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. It is one of the largest staffing firmw in the world and has operated in more than 60 countries worldwide, providing various workforce solutions. When broken down by country and region, the Adecco group has earned its highest revenue in France and had 37,381 full-time employees worldwide in 2023.
Mergers and expansion
Adecco was founded in 1996 with the merger of Swiss company Adia Interim and French company Ecco, creating a company with around 2,500 branches and an annual revenue of 5.4 billion euros. The year 2000 saw significant expansion for Adecco through their acquisition of Olsten Recruiting, boosting their total revenue to 11.6 billion euros and turning them into the largest recruitment company in the United States at the time. Since then, a combination of acquisitions and organic growth has enabled Adecco to expand their operations across the globe, resulting in a company that generated nearly 24 billion euros in revenue in 2023. The only staffing company that had a higher turnover in 2023 was the Dutch firm, Randstad.Specific markets for specific brands
The Adecco Group has operated under a number of different brands worldwide, with the most prominent of these being Adecco Staffing, Euro Engineering, Modis, Spring Professional, Badenoch & Clark, Pontoon, General Assembly, Vettery, YOSS , Adia and Lee Hecht Harrison. Each of these brands has a different focus; for example Adia focuses on the hospitality, catering and events industry, while Modis focuses on IT, engineering and life sciences. When the company is broken down by brand, the majority of its revenue has come from their "Adecco" segment that has functioned as their workforce solutions division.
