The Audi Group has been ramping up its sustainability efforts in the past year, intending to offer one battery-electric model for all its core segments by 2027. However, despite these efforts, its brands did not rank the highest in the Sustainability Perceptions Value ranking. In 2024, its eponymous brand Audi was the seventh German brand in the ranking, with around 3.4 billion euros of its value contingent on maintaining a reputation for acting sustainably.
Audi’s reputation is in part linked to the growing luxury car market, which peaked in 2023 at over 600 billion euros in market size. The brand, which is an integral part of the Audi Progressive Brand Group, was among the global bestsellers for premium cars, alongside fellow German makes BMW and Mercedes-Benz, both ranking higher on the Sustainability Perceptions Value ranking.
Audi’s battery-electric vehicle production and deliveries also increased, with consumers worldwide receiving some 178,400 fully electric Audis in 2023. However, none of the marque’s most-delivered models were strictly electric. That year, consumers preferred the Audi Q5 and A6 models to the Q4 e-tron, which recorded some 111,700 shipments.
Audi’s significant financial contribution to the Progressive Brand Group and, by extension, to the Volkswagen Group make it one of the automotive manufacturer’s most successful brands, though progress is still ongoing for its electrification. On a global level, though Audi was not the luxury car best-selling make in 2023, it benefits from strong customer loyalty. Alongside Porsche, Audi is also the only one of the VW Group’s marques to be a part of the most valuable automotive brands worldwide.

With nearly 63.5 billion euros in revenue, Audi was the Progressive Brand Group’s flagship brand and accounted for some 19.7 percent of the Volkswagen Group’s total 2023 revenue. However, while Audi’s revenue increased between 2022 and 2023, its operating profit declined by 21.3 percent, partly due to the negative effects of raw material hedging transactions recorded by its parent-company. In Germany, as of June 2024, 82 percent of respondents who owned Audi cars in the past reported being likely to purchase one again in the future, the second-highest loyalty score in the country.
