The future of Germany’s wind sector
To achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, Germany has set ambitious
wind energy targets for the next years. By 2030, the country aims for a total installed wind capacity of some 145 gigawatts, including 115 gigawatts of onshore and 30 gigawatts of offshore wind. In order to realize these goals, yearly capacity additions should average to more than 10 gigawatts. Industry
forecasts point to new installations growing from six to 16 gigawatts annually in the next years.
