Smartphone in your hands, headphones in your ears, and a laptop in your bag – all set to go out with your mobile devices, whether you are on your way to work in Paris or to meet friends at a café in Cannes. In our increasingly digitalized world, it is difficult to think about a life without consumer electronics, namely, electronic devices that are purchased by users for daily and personal purposes. In France, smartphones constitute the most commonly used devices, with connected devices such as smartwatches and health-related trackers growing in popularity over recent years. An important feature of many consumer electronics devices is their ability to interconnect, resulting in a vast network of connected objects collecting and analyzing data and autonomously performing tasks.
Smartphones dominate the industry
With a penetration rate reaching 96 percent among people aged 12 to 17, and 25 to 39 in 2023, smartphones continue to be the most widely owned digital device in France. In 2024, it is forecast that revenue from the smartphone market in the country will amount to around 7.3 billion euros, while revenue from the PC market will reach 4.5 billion euros dollars that year, with laptops constituting by far the largest segment. For tablets, however, the penetration rate in France experienced a slight decline across most age groups in 2023, except for people aged 70 and older.Internet-connected devices on the rise
