Digital lending
The share of
loans provided by digital banks is expected to keep increasing in the coming years, reaching a large market share by the end of the decade. Neobanks and digital bans are quickly increasing their share of the market. For example, the value of the
customer loans by the Brazilian neobank Nubank has grown from 58 million U.S. dollars in 2019 to over 2.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. Additionally, the
market share of buy now, pay later (BNPL) has been rising in countries all over the world. BNPL companies like Klarna or Afterpay allow their users to pay for their purchases by providing them with short-term loans.
