new oncological cases in Russia were identified in the last stage of the disease. Consecutively, an enhanced focus on screening and early detection should be the key to reducing the cancer mortality rate nationwide. In Russia, every person aged between 18 and 39 years has to undergo a medical examination once every three years, while persons aged 40 years or above are entitled to a free medical examination once a year. Such medical examination includes but is not limited to a visual examination, cytological screening, mammography screening for women aged 40 to 75 years, and prostate-specific antigen blood testing for men every five years after the age of 45 years. In 2023, over a quarter of
all new cancer cases in Russia were discovered actively. In particular, four out of ten new non-melanoma
