Evolution of healthcare in India

Despite significant improvements to healthcare service access and quality in recent decades, India‘s performance has been subpar compared with other low- and lower-middle-income countries. Despite that, healthcare is one of India‘s largest industries by revenue and employment. The industry exhibits tremendous potential and continues to expand exponentially in terms of coverage and services. This is primarily due to increasing investments by private players and expenditures made by the public sector. The first chapter of this report highlights the challenge of inequity in the current healthcare model. Chapter 2 highlights the business potential of the private sector in the healthcare industry while chapters 3 and 4 bring forward the significance of changes in healthcare through digital transformation.
