In Guyana, the number of deaths due to malaria amounted to 16 fatal cases in 2021, up from 13 deaths registered a year prior. The lowest number of deaths from malaria reached six fatalities in the South American country in 2018. Guyana was also among the Latin American countries with the highest number of malaria cases in the region in 2021. Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic recorded one malaria decease that year.
