In 2017, only four percent of commercial vehicles in the Italian city of Palermo belonged to the group of Euro 6 vehicles. By contrast, one in five vehicles in the Sicilian capital were classified as Euro 0.

*The European emission standards define emission limits for vehicles. The most stringent one, the Euro 6 standards, were introduced for light vehicles in September 2014. Since 2015, all newly introduced models in Europe had to comply with them. By contrast, Euro 0 vehicles are not subject to any emission requirements and are the most polluting category.
