Real GDP growth agriculture sector Thailand 2015-2021
Agricultural production in Thailand
Thailand is a plentiful and fertile country, with almost half of the population working in agriculture-related jobs. Agriculture in Thailand is not only competitive, but it is also highly diversified. One of the most important crops in Thailand is rice, among other cash crops like cassava, sugarcane, and rubber. In 2019, the production value of rice in Thailand reached almost 300 billion Thai baht. At the same time, the production volume of rice was also forecasted to amount to 28.36 million tons.
Livestock in Thailand
Apart from agriculture, livestock is also an important industry in Thailand’s economy. In 2019, the feed demand in Thailand was estimated to reach almost 20 million metric tons, with broiler chickens representing around 40 percent of the total demand for feed. Given that broilers account for the highest share of feed demand, chicken plays a considerable role in Thailand’s meat production. In 2018, the production volume of chicken in Thailand amounted to 1.73 million tons.
