Peru was the Latin American country with the highest number of Venezuelan asylum seekers in 2023. Over 493,400 Venezuelan citizens had presented an application for asylum in Peru in 2023 and another 4,100 were granted refugee status under UNHCR mandate. Brazil followed second, with almost 18,850 asylum seekers and over 128,500 Venezuelan citizens recognized as refugees.

Data for asylum seekers refers to the number of asylum applications in a given year (pending cases). The number of refugees refers to the number of individuals that were granted refugee status, including refugee-like situations.
Figures exclude the number of people who migrated voluntarily or without submitting an asylum/refugee application in the country of destination.
