In Brazil, the number of effective organ donors amounted to 4,035 in 2023, up from 3,528 donors reported a year earlier and the highest reported in the South American country in the period analyzed. Figures showed a decrease in the number of organ donors after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Brazil registered the second-highest donation rate among selected Latin American countries in 2020, with nearly 14.2 donors per million population.
