In 2023, the number of heart transplants performed in Mexico amounted to 40 procedures, down from the 42 interventions recorded the previous year. There was a sudden drop in heart transplants occurring during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The highest figure for heart transplants completed in the Latin American country during the period analyzed reached 52 interventions in 2014. In the last year featured, 24 patients were waiting for a heart transplant in Mexico.
