The results of a survey regarding the public opinion on the government being able to bring down the rate of crime against women and children seemed positive. As of February 2019, 55 percent of respondents stated that they believed that the central government has succeeded in lowering the crime rates. This was a significant increase compared to 2017.

Note: The original survey question was phrased as follows: "Do you feel crimes against women and children have reduced in the last 5 years?".
The survey is in reference to the government formed after the 2014 general elections, which is the 16th Lok Sabha. The legislative term is for a five year duration. The elections are scheduled to be held in 2019.
