The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic had a significant impact on the spa and wellness industry, as establishments were either forced to close, or to implement strict hygiene standards and regulations for their employees and guests. During a March 2020 survey among spa industry professionals worldwide, 92 percent stated that they made hand sanitizer available for guests, while 20 percent stated that they had enforced an employee travel ban.
