The Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure video game series published by Nintendo. Since the release of the original The Legend of Zelda title in 1986, the franchise has released 19 titles across all of Nintendo's consoles. The 2017 title, Breath of the Wild, was the first to be released on Nintendo's new generation Switch console. This game was met by rave reviews and has also been a commercial success, selling over 13.6 million copies worldwide as of December 2019.
