A survey conducted over several months in 2019 found that Jimin from the K-pop boy group BTS was the most favorite idol for around 19.1 percent of the surveyed South Koreans.

BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, is currently the most successful Korean pop group not only in South Korea but worldwide. The band started to be formed in 2010 and had its official debut in 2013 under the label Big Hit Entertainment. Nowadays, the group is getting attention from all around the world. Their recent music video for their song Dynamite broke the record for being the music video with the most views within 24 hours. The song became the first K-pop song to be placed on the first spot of the Billboard charts. The direct economic effect of the win of the first place is estimated to amount to around 617.4 billion South Korean won, while the total economic effect is estimated to reach approximately 1.71 trillion South Korean won.
